The Bacterial Pneumonia Characteristics based on Climate and Meteorological Parameters in Indonesia, the Tropical Country: A Preliminary Study

Introduction: As a tropical country, Indonesia has the potential to influence characteristics of infectious diseases. The purpose this study was see how pattern pneumonia on various weather components such as rainfall, humidity, and temperature.Methods: This carried by retrospective screening in ward one tertiary referral hospitals.Results: A total 876 cases from eight treatment rooms were included study. highest occurred February with 239 (27.2%) followed April May 169 (19.2%) 159 (18.2%) respectively. After microbiological examination, bacterial growth found 191 cases. number bacteria 62 (32%), 33 (17.2%) 31 (16.2%) samples. Most grown gram-negative (94.3%), dominated Klebsiella pneumoniae (35%), Acinetobacter baumanii 17.2% Pseudomonas aeruginosa 12%. On examination antibiotic sensitivity, it that amikacin consistently high sensitivity (90%) for caused most causes (Acinetobacter baumanii, pneumoniae, Escherichia coli).Conclusion: did not show any remarkable patterns based temperature during rainy season. However, increasing surveillance period will provide better insight into can compare dry seasons.
